"During the Powers of Ten, I saw a part of my life, unresolved since an early age, from many different perspectives. Because I was so young when this experience occurred, I thought I was a victim. In seeing it from different perspectives, I realized there was something I could have done to change the whole experience. It shed light on that area of my life and made a big difference."
–Tad Messenger, Geology Teacher

...thinking outside the box

"Visually seeing and experiencing the String Theory was incredibly powerful to me. As a manager, 90% of what I do is interacting with people and in that, trying to show them how they can use their resources to be successful. String Theory is a powerful experience of how much everyone is connected. When you see this clearly, it is much easier to recognize that the decisions you make and how you make them affect others. At work, I think a big part of managing is being aware that there are people who would help if only they know you need it. Too often people are afraid or prideful to ask for help and this applies to me personally as well. Other people see our needs because of the connection, it is an obvious thing." -Adam Williams, Manager

... a remarkable film that everyone should see at least once

"I saw the Powers of Ten film at age 10 on my dad’s homemade TV set. It showed me how I am connected to the world and myself. I felt both humbled and exalted at the same time, both then and now. It has helped me to experience more of myself and achieve a higher degree of excellence in everything I do. On the job I work as a member of the team more effectively."
–Jay McCormick, Computer Consultant

...learning how you create the boxes you’re trying to get out of

4

"During the Powers of Ten, people experience themselves from the inside out. It stimulates insight and inner experience – understanding how the thoughts you have about your reality create the reality you live, which then frees you to experience the life you’ve dreamed of."
– Dr. Laurel Clark, Teacher

...walking in someone's shoes

5

"As a Recreational Therapist I interact with a variety of people who experience challenges mentally, emotionally and physically. The exercise we preformed entitled ‘walking in another’s shoes’ gave me greater insight and compassion for those I serve. This helps me know for example what one of my patients may be going through when they find it difficult to walk without assistance. I could also see that this piece of information is necessary for the other therapists that I work with, the nurses and doctors, to learn. There is a great deal of healing that takes place when you can relate and connect with another. I am very grateful for this awareness."

-Sheila Benjamin, Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist

...transferring success in one area of life to all areas

6

"As I imagined 10 ways that I could live my life differently to be more fulfilled, I could see myself saying out loud every day, "I am grateful for (and fill in the blank)." I realized that if I practiced gratitude in this way everyday, I would be on the road to greater happiness and joy in my life. I really believe this can happen for me." -Jesse Kern, Administrative Assistant

...getting to Zero Point in any situation

8

"Since attending the Powers of Ten, I have developed a much greater understanding of objectivity. The way Dr. Barbara Condron described "zero point?" made very clear for me, how to recognize my strengths and my weaknesses with a perspective of "I can improve." Before while painting someone’s home or in a conversation with a friend, I would find myself withdrawn. I wanted to care about what I did and my relationships, but I didn’t know how. I see now that this was because I got caught up in either thoughts of self doubt or thinking the activity or conversation was beneath me. The Powers of Ten has stimulated me to strive to look for ways to improve and invest myself in whatever I do. The opportunities of life reveal themselves when I chose to be a scientist looking at each experience as a possibility to unfold by potential." -Sebastien Hartman, House Painter

...experiencing compassion

"I think the String Theory really made an impression on me. It has been alive in my thoughts ever since I attended the Powers of Ten seminar and it has aided my ability to serve as a critical care, pediatric registered nurse. Since your thoughts and attitudes have an influence on everyone around you, it’s kind of like what you give out is what you get in return.

"I had a patient at the hospital - a mother brought her child in and he was adopted, so she was afraid for him. He was sick and needed to have an IV started, and others nurses had tried to get it in two or three times, and this mother was frantic because no one could get the IV in this child, and she was concerned because she thought her child was going to die. She was yelling and screaming at the nurses. I wanted to help her in some way. I let her know that I was going to be her nurse, and told her what she could do to help me. I knew that my attitude - how I presented myself - would make all the difference. I told her why they were having trouble starting the IV, and how she needed to be calm. I walked her through everything. I had her sit in the rocking chair with her son and hold him and I was able to start the IV. She cried when we were done because she was so thankful we got the IV started. Later that month I got a letter from administration saying that this lady had written them telling how thankful she was that I was there on staff because I knew what to give her and help her and that’s what she needed at that time. What I used in this experience reflects what I learned and experienced at the Powers of Ten, and it has aided me to understand the power of my thoughts and their impact upon my patients and their family members." -Karen Mosby, Registered Nurse

...a 10 hour odyssey of Mind

10

"I evolved in 10 hours. I started with a thought, an old belief system, and I explored that belief system all the way back to its beginning, and then all the way to the present. Then I explored the belief structure as it moved out into my consciousness and how I affect other people and how those thoughts are leading me in my own evolution. In the end I neutralized – I discovered my own true thoughts, the one’s that are really me. It was like a movie, a story, of a part of my life."
-Kelley Naylor, filmmaker
