Hello,
I attended my first Powers of Ten seminar at the College of Metaphysics several months ago. At that time I walked away not really knowing how to wrap my mind around the experience or how to completely describe what just happened. The second time was a completely different experience. I was now not just attending, but was additionally acting as a server to others who were experiencing this seminar for the first time. This unique perspective gave me insight into what it means to be a teacher.
In attendance were several of my own employees. These "Christians" had been warned of the evil that was to be perpetrated against them by their fellow church goers and workers. They came against their better judgment, their fears were real and deep. I watched from across the room as they took it all in. It was quite an interesting day to say the least.
Before the evening had ended, 3 out of the 4 approached me in tears. They were shed with a mix of gratitude and shame for their prior judgment about the school. They all walked away with something that they needed and will carry with them the rest of their life. They will never be the same and they know it.
Dr. Barbara Condron was the embodiment of a master teacher. I think, or maybe intuit, that her prior knowledge of such fears of my staff led her to teach in such a way that their defenses were abandoned so that true learning could take place. I learned that she was not just teaching things, but was centered in the needs of those in attendance. What an experience it was.
Personally, I really seemed to "get it" this time around. Maybe it was that I came to this seminar with a greater understanding than the first time, but I think it was more than that. The material was presented in such a way that it felt more cohesive, I was able to see the big picture in a way that I was unable to the first time. I was really impressed with the fact that I listened to the same seminar for the second time in just a few months, and it all seemed fresh. Dr. Barbara's malleability to the needs of those in attendance was truly amazing. I am deeply grateful for the experience.
