Dream Awareness Weekend 2011

Dreaming has been a part of human consciousness since the beginning of time.

Why do so few people remember their dreams, and even fewer understand them?  At dreamschool.org and the School of Metaphysics, we are developing a culture that values dreaming.  People yearn to know their purpose in life, how to understand and resolve challenges, the reason for events that happen around the world … and many of these answers can be found in the dreamtime.  Increasing numbers of people are becoming more aware of the importance of the inner Self, intuition, the experiences beyond the physical world … and thus, the importance of dreams.

The School of Metaphysics since the early 1970’s has taught the important principles that 1) every dream is about the dreamer, and 2) every person, place, and thing in a dream is the dreamer.  The School of Metaphysics teaches dreamers to understand dreams by decoding them with Universal Language of Mind™, a language of symbols.

The language is universal; the interpretation of the dream is personal, since only the dreamer knows how the dream applies to his or her life.

This weekend, April 29 – May 1, 2011, is the 23rd Annual National Dream Hotline®, an educational initiative of the School of Metaphysics.   At the World Headquarters of the School of Metaphysics, teachers and students will be answering the phone around the clock to interpret dreams and answer callers’ questions about dreams, at 417-345-8411.

At 16 branches of the school, students and teachers are focusing on dreams and intuition during the same time period, recently dubbed Dream Awareness Weekend.  All of the branches are showing the film The Edge of Dreaming as a synchronized event, at 7 pm, Saturday, April 30th

Other dream-related events in cities where we have SOM locations include dream interpretation at coffee houses and parks, dream lectures, interpreting dreams for kids and their parents, and interpretation of Holy World in the Universal Language of Mind™.  Read our blog to hear the experiences and insights of those who are participating to learn more about themselves through their dreams.

The 2011 Dream Awareness Weekend provided an opportunity for dream education to reach new people in the communities served by our School of Metaphysics branches.  The synchronized showing of the PBS documentary “The Edge of Dreaming” was a focal point for the weekend.  As you can read in the entries in this blog, many of these showings drew new people to the School of Metaphysics.

When people remember their dreams, they have a window into a “greater self.”  They become aware that there is much more to our existence than meets the eye. Their experiences show them that life is more than feeding the body and having a reliable car and happy relationships.  Dreams awaken us to a spiritual self.  They show us that reality exists beyond the physical senses. In dreams, we can fly, we can visit unknown lands or outer space, we can meet sages and magicians. We may discover powers we never knew we had, or uncover knowledge that was previously hidden in books or secret libraries.

The culmination of the Dream Awareness Weekend is the beginning for some people who had not previously known about the School of Metaphysics to understand the Whole Self, These people are now enrolled in the step-by-step course of study that develops mastery of consciousness.  For some of the students of the SOM, it is the dawning of greater awareness of what they have been learning.  Some of these people are becoming teachers.  Others are now sharing their knowledge by giving lectures.

For all of us, focusing on dreams aids us to be more fulfilled and aware of who we are and why we are here.  I want to express my deep appreciation for Dr. Barbara Condron, the students and teachers at the College of Metaphysics, the students and teachers at all of our SOM branches, for lighting the way to Intuitive, Spiritual Man as we learn and educate the world about the many facets of dreaming.

I send you my circle of love,
O Dr. Laurel Clark, SOM President

  2. The time of dream awareness in 2011 is best described as flowering.

The reports from branches included the younger generation – children became a real part of our dreaming this year.  At SOM headquarters this was captured when a 6th grader from Pennsylvania wrote to dreamschool the morning after our first webinar.  She had questions for a paper she was writing.  She had found our website, emailed and called us saying, “I looked at a lot of sites and I knew you know something.

“When I heard this I immediately thought of Brenton Harris’ first post in this blog.  I also thought about the new mission statement for dreamschool – “creating a global culture that values dreaming.”  It is happening.  Just as we dream it.

The synchronized showing of The Edge of Dreaming showed our flowering as we opened ourselves to welcome the ideas of others who also experience the mind.  This would carry forward the following weekend at National Teachers Conference when a presentation by Dr. Terry Martin – modeled from what we learned during the Edge of Dreaming screenings and discussions – lifted everyone present to a new level of receiving.  The film this time was our own SOM produced 10 Powers of Dreaming and the discussion that followed was like an group intuitive happening log as those present shared their experiences in subconscious realities before and during SOM study.  Dr. Terry made most of us want to be students – even when we already are! – and the rest are a bit more grateful for their association with SOM.

I thought about The Edge of Dreaming journey.  From dream realities to partnering with PBS/POV, our journey began at Thanksgiving, became solid Christmas Eve, and led to the most daring experiment SOM has thus far attempted – the 5 Day 5 Step Prophecy born on Good Friday and begun Easter Sunday.  In the Universal Language of MindTM, this arc demonstrates the creation cycle of Christ Consciousness in the individual; for SOM as an organization, it is a unified and conscious, forward step in claiming our collective purpose to usher in Intuitive, Spiritual Man.

I enjoyed this Springtime dreaming.  With such great classes at COM (students and grads), leadership training was pure pleasure.  Tad landed our first Skype interview with WINN in NYC.  Emily made a Portland connection that enabled us to play music from SOM cds during a satellite interview Sunday night.  Brian made $1200 that week and stayed connected in his contribution.  Walter learned how he chooses who will be his teacher in every situation.  Heather realized focus is proper perspective, while Elizabeth made a life direction choice that she was born to make.  Laurie sustained the flow in cyberspace, becoming a central player in SOM’s Facebook presence.  Jonathan was steady in his comprehensive support and teaching in the language of mind and Karen’s useful dharma made all the difference on Sunday afternoon as she returned everyone to the essence of the weekend.  Everyone became a leader this year and it shows in every way.

It was business as usual at the College of Metaphysics with the addition of National Dream Hotline® momentum.  Tending the garden, intuitive reports class, and Dr. Daniel asking Thursday night, “Who wants to make strawberry jam tomorrow night?  Saturday night?”  When throats swallowed a bit hard and eyes rolled, I followed up with “It’s just like in a center.  You’d be integrating working, teaching, and Dream Awareness Weekend there.  This is leadership training to be a great director!” Everyone could see the Truth in that moment, and they lived it well.

We divided a large United States map into seven regions.  Everyone claimed their region and all week, the consciousness teaching centered on field director consciousness.  What is it and what makes it work?  Even before the weekend, students enjoyed contacting hundreds of radio and newspaper outlets through emails and by phone.  I told them, “You’re the first group to be given this level of responsibility.  Just think what you can accomplish next year!”  Heather said, “I can imagine it.”  Walter said, “I’m willing to be here.”  “Me too!” joined in Emily and Elizabeth.  That day everyone committed to returning for what will be the amazing 2012 National Dream Hotline®.

That will be a dream come true. Now, it is a dream in the making. Eternal Life. Continuity.

One closing note.  After the weekend, we tallied that we had heard from 18 states.  That leaves 32 yet to come.  We decided to hold our visualized image with the expectation that in some way we will receive from all 50 states before October 28, 2011, a significant date in Mayan astronomy.  We look forward to hearing how we can serve those of you around the country!  Maybe we’ll catch you at the next dreamschool webinar class!  Or welcome you to the online study.  Or serve you with an intuitive report.  Or interpret one of your dreams.

Upon reflection of my understanding and experience with the National Dream Hotline® and Dream Awareness Weekend, I have come to a place of security.  I study at the College of Metaphysics full time, and I served in the position of International Media Contact.  I am secure in my placement as a student and a leader, ever growing.

Our experience here at headquarters, leading up to the big weekend, still reverberates in my consciousness.  I still direct myself in a manner that says, “Respond now, all I have is NOW, be still and make a decision now.”  The echoes of such continual motion play out in the small things, opening up doors for bigger things, as I have been offered directorship positions based off of my progress made since Dream Awareness Weekend.  This success speaks to the power of commitment.  I hadn’t reached my goals for the hotline media, therefore, following the event I move forward making choices based off of what I have learned from the experience.  There is a joy I feel in this learning process, which is actually revealing itself in my dreams each night.  They are changing.  I am changing.  Shining the light on dreams is what we are about, and I am benefiting nightly from this dream awareness.

Mari Hamersley, Teacher at the Des Moines, IA School of Metaphysics branch says:In Des Moines, I experienced the National Dream Weekend as a time of expansion and connection.  New people who knew friends of the School of Metaphysics came to the simultaneous screening of “The Edge of Dreaming” film by Amy Hardie.  This was the connection and I appreciated the expansiveness too as the School of Metaphysics students told others who responded and came.  The thought form went out and others we didn’t know even wanted to see it also came.  It was a thoughtful group with much discussion afterward.  This is the third time I’ve seen the film.  I felt the depth of Amy Hardie’s newfound awarenesses and realizations within my own heart about the transformative power of dreams.  That night I had a precognitive dream, too – very clearly seeing that Prince William and Princess Catherine informed us that they were postponing their honeymoon for security reasons.  On Sunday, as our three students, Jane, Ashley and Becky presented a dream workshop, Jane told me that the royal couple actually announced the postponement, and at their workshop also I met another person who often has precognitive dreams.  This is an area of dreaming I haven’t often talked about or seen so clearly, so it was expansive for me.  And I could see on their faces that all of the participants looked deeper within themselves as a result of our Dream Awareness Weekend.  Now I see we need to continue to provide events and our classes and other forms of dream education to stimulate and to enable them to continue their learning and growth.  The momentum will help us all.

Tracey Erickson, Teacher at the Des Moines, IA School of Metaphysics branch says:This year for the Dream Awareness Weekend, Jesse Kern and I went out into the city of Des Moines to raise awareness of not only the local events going on, but also the raise dream awareness in individuals by interpreting dreams on the spot. We went around the Drake University neighborhood, and reached many people as it was also the annual Drake Relays weekend.  After hitting the Drake hot spots, Jesse and I went downtown to the weekend hot spots there and spread the word of Dream Awareness Events and interpreted more dreams. We connected with many people and handed out many flyers, and hung many posters!

  6. As a student at the College of Metaphysics, I learned a lot during the preparation of National Dream Hotline®, however, I had no idea what it was preparing me for.  One of the assignments as a class for NDH was to send PSA’s and emails to newspapers, radio stations and online resources in a specific region of the United States.  I had the southeast region which consisted of twelve states.  To begin this assignment it was recommended to choose the largest city in the region.  I chose Jacksonville, Florida because it is the U.S.’s largest city in the southeast region.  I spoke about my search in the kitchen and Dr. Barbara overheard the conversation.  She shared with me that I was missing a significant part of my search.  She asked me, “What about the surrounding areas?”  This hadn’t even crossed my mind because I had only included the residents that lived specifically in Jacksonville.  She told me to go back to my search and this time include the metro areas.  To my surprise when I included the metro areas of the three chosen cities I received a much greater perspective of the area.  Miami, Florida with 5,547,051 people according to the U.S. Census Bureau is the largest city by population in the southeast region.  This is a 4,725,267 difference than the population of Jacksonville.  That’s a BIG difference!  This was the first time I really understood what identifies an area.  I saw it’s individual parts and pieces that make up the city as a whole as it was broken down by Wikipedia.  This viewpoint is important for any field director that is looking to open a school center in a selected city.  Dr. Barbara brought this point to my awareness as I awed over the magnitude of how much a difference it made when I included the metro areas.  Thank God for the people who have come before us to aid us in making better choices.  I now have a much more expansive idea of what consists within a city’s limits, a much greater appreciation for taking the time to broaden my search and the capacity of my thinking.

This is Ben Pettingill, Dream Awareness Coordinator. What a great time to recognize National Dream Awareness Weekend in Indianapolis!  John Orton led the events for Friday night, he is compelled through understanding in reverence.  The Dream Team Assembly set up refreshments and desserts before hosting an Open House and Dream Lecture at our beloved school. Everyone enjoyed Lindy Stafford’s lemon squares and her attention to the details made for a comfortable cafe-like atmosphere.  Katrina Parsley opened the evening with a brief introduction of SOM and related the significance of dreams to our real-life aspirations.  Katrina is very well spoken, the “knower” in her gives her great confidence.  She introduced me, the evening’s speaker.  “Dreams, Songs of the Soul” was a talk I gave to inspire everyone involved to realize the importance of their dreams. Interpret the symbols in your dreams and apply the learning, then you can more easily share in the blessings of life.  The night closed with delightful conversation and socialization amongst friends.

The weather on Saturday was perfect for an outdoor fair we called Family Dream Day.  The Dream Team Assembly set up the event activities by noon.  We welcomed new and familiar faces for the afternoon as we enjoyed a cook-out.   The food was prepared by Katrina Parsley, Lindy Stafford and Heather Washburn.  Heather is so eager to share her insights on life with her gifted son Noah, who celebrated his birthday with us!  Christine Spretnjak focused on speaking to interested prospective students and explaining the many truths SOM classes offer.  The children, and even the adults took advantage of our creative activities focused on dreams.  Greg Sparrow and John Orton helped me set up the fun booths for Drawing your Dreams and Sculpting your Dreams.  From there, the artists were invited to Act Out your Dreams on the mini theater stage erected in front of the picnic tables with their artwork and other pre-fabricated props like a house, a truck and a boat on different terrains like grassy plains, a lake, and even mountains.  My heart grew so big when I saw children fall in love with our Family Dream Day.

Saturday evening began in a beautiful media room on the campus of Butler University.   People literally visited from both ends the country.  Christine Spretnjak led the film screening event for “The Edge of Dreaming” and I was impressed how well she handled all of the electronics.  After the viewing, she led a Q&A session on the topic of dreams and the film.  She was able to give very helpful advice to a person who often walks in his sleep.  We are so lucky to have a director like Christine.  With such poise and introspection, she is the ideal candidate for becoming a college student.

A small group of us met on Sunday evening to go out into the streets of Broad Ripple.  We wanted to share information about the National Dream Hotline® and the opportunity to get everyone’s dreams interpreted for free until midnight, and whenever they are so inclined.  Stan Wenck was among the crew that got the public excited about getting their dreams interpreted.  With 77 publications in his lifetime, Dr. Stan Wenck (a retired psychologist)  added credibility to the notion that dreams are real messages from the Soul.    My dreams the next morning spoke of changing disciplines; it makes me happy to know that my subconscious is responding to all of the learning I receive from the School of Metaphysics.  I want to send out a big THANKS to the supporters from the World Headquarters, all of my fellow Indy students and teachers who helped collaborate the vision, to all of my friends that came to support me from outside of the school, and special thanks to my mom, dad, brothers, sister-in-law, and nephew Nolan whom I love very much!
[Ed. note: It sounds like the theme of "Family Dream Day" extended throughout the weekend for this Dream Awareness Coordinator!]

Greetings from Headquarters!  My National Dream Awareness Weekend was quite unique.  As a College of Metaphysics student, the way I conduct my life entirely revolves around the service I choose to offer.  Opportunities large and small are available for me to accept, should I choose them.  Dr. Barbara Condron, my Mind Linguistics teacher, offered the opportunity for me to be the contact person for National Dream Hotline® international media.   What does this really mean?  It means that I had the whole world in my hands, and what I would do with it was up to me.  I also had an airplane ticket due to fly out for an extended weekend the week before hotline.  My family lives in Cincinnati, and I was going to see many of them for the first time in over a year.  I planned a very detailed trip which included interaction with 26 family members as well as many service projects for the SOM branch in Cincinnati (where I began my SOM studies).  Two days before I was to fly out, I sought counsel from Dr. Barbara about how to handle the international media while I was away.  She never told me “what to do.”  However, I realized by talking with her that I had double booked myself and should I depart during “crunch time” for NDH media, I would be failing myself and the school.  I stayed.  I thought about a story I read in a SOM book, which describes a choice Dr. Laurel made to not marry a man, even though her relatives and friends had already bought airplane tickets for attending the wedding.   How was she going to face her loved ones and tell them that there was not going to be a wedding?  She meditated to receive insight on the situation.  The answer: they’ll adjust.  [ed. note: Dr. Laurel realized that she was the one who needed to adjust!]

Dr. Barbara said that I was giving myself the best COM graduation gift.  She teaches me how to be a successful director, and this was a choice that would produce a prosperous school center.  I must teach many, I have to serve, it is my destiny to evolve in the name to humanity’s evolution.  When I had to face my family, through the tears and the inner battle with the karma I set into motion, I reminded myself: they’ll adjust.  During the National Dream Hotline®, when the phone was not ringing on my shift, I knew why.  I reminded myself that the choice I made to remain at COM is not an either/or choice.  It is never either about my physical family OR my spiritual education.  I opened my heart to my family, and I knew that I owed it to them to receive calls for the hotline.  From that moment forward, the phone continuously rang on my shift.  I attracted callers who needed exactly what I have to give.  The beauty is in knowing who I create for.  This was an identity-shifting experience.  I am new.  More real.  There is so much love pouring out of me for humanity, which includes my beloved family.  This dream weekend was a true opportunity for my soul to speak.  I listened.

Tad MessengerDuring the 23rd Annual National Dream Hotline® at the College of Metaphysics, I was given the opportunity to focus on media coverage for New York City.  First, I sent a form email to major newspapers and radio shows that I picked from the media coverage data base that included some 12,000 + media sources in NYC.  We sent them on Friday.  Then, on Monday, Dr. Barbara Condron instructed the graduate teachers to print their email contacts, cut them with scissors, lay them out on a table, and use our intuitive skills to pick the ones to call.  We were to call until we received a person to talk to, use what we have been learning is Psi Counseling class, and set up a radio show, or at least have them post the NDH® information on their news desk.  When I spread my contacts on the table, there were three that I felt drawn to.  Two were very strong.  When I turned them over, I was surprised by one because I had found out that the woman didn’t work there anymore.  When I called her up, she left a message on her answering machine that she had moved on and to call McKenzie Dawson who was in charge of her old job at the New York Post.  When I called McKenzie, she said to email the information and she would be glad to look at it.  Fifteen minutes later she emailed back saying she would be glad to post it on the news desk, and could we send her the top 10 dreams from America and what they mean.  Laurie laughed, and said we already had it.  We immediately emailed her back with the information.  Communication travels quickly when lines open up.The second experience with one of the other contacts I chose, led to the first skype radio show from the COM for NDH® with WINS 1010 AM in NYC.  After, I sent the email, Alice Stockton-Rossini from the radio station emailed to us and we set up the show with Dr. Daniel Condron for 3 pm that same day.  I was running around like a kid.  Heather Hunt commented about my enthusiasm and it was contagious.  When Dr. Daniel did the show, Heather and I had our ears to the crack in the door like little children listening to their parent during an important event. There are many rich experiences that NDH® creations produced this year and it always is a great reminder of how valuable SOM teachings are and how we influence and elevate  the consciousness of the planet.Love, and Light O,Tad

Saturday morning  we participated with the DuPage Children’s Museum in interpreting dreams for parents and kids for about 3 hours.  The kids loved painting their dreams and that seemed to help them remember their dreams to verbally describe them… One boy, maybe about 6 or 7, was dreaming of several rainbows in the sky and space…some with puppies sliding down them only to be eaten by a monster in the water below…  when I asked the boy, Tim, I think, what he thought about the monster, he pointed to his older brother and said “I like him but he’s scary.”  His dad is a minister and was taken aback at his son’s distaste for his brother.  I told him that his son was often attuned to the universe and creation through his mind, hence the rainbows… and he was upset with unknown aspects of himself expressing fear in his experiences… hence the monster in the water…  The puppies represent small cute habitual ways of thinking allowing Tim to enjoy his ability to relate to his energetic connections.  Although he is entertained by his monstrous thinking he is also aware that fear is taking over these habitual connections to his higher levels of self awareness and that is scary.  Dad was pleased that Tim did not dislike his brother yet he now was aware that he needed to pay more attention to what Tim’s fears were.  Tim’s dad had some new perspectives of his own and thanked me over and over.  We talked about him asking his son more questions, as trusted friends, and learn what Tim was thinking through his answers.  His wife came over and they all left talking to Tim.  This experience filled my whole day with gratitude and I found myself remembering my experience in helping all the way through the Edge of Dreaming Screening.

Here is a wonderful expression of a student’s experience with Dream Awareness Weekend in Tulsa, OK for the 2011 Dream Awareness Weekend:
The S.O.M. in Tulsa student base is a small group of devotees, which generated a unified effort in becoming responsible for the future and creation of a magnetically vibrant whole functioning school. Our purpose was to connect with others in the community supportive to our ideal; therefore aiding in the healing process and growth needed within.

We began reflecting upon our recent January presentation of “The Edge of Dreaming.” From an observatory perspective we recognized the need to shift our focus towards expanding class sizes. Contemplating our Ideal and Purpose provided affirmation our intent was supportive enough for a successful outcome. One suggestion during the wrap up meeting in January made by Dr. Sheila Benjamin was to relocate our event for dream awareness weekend to the Unity Center of Tulsa. This agreeably was conducive in many ways, as the city had been holding events that directed the community’s attention towards the downtown area for the purpose of revitalizing the business district. Both locations being receptive environments provided a belief The Law of Attraction would occur naturally. We thought to include Dr. Barbara’s “Powers of 10” presentation prior to the showing of “The Edge of Dreaming” would only enhance the experience to the documentary. As we reached obstacles in finalizing the fliers to be distributed, we were down to a few days before the event with little public notification. There were 2 nights where students conjoined in effort to come in direct contact with individuals throughout the city, discussing dreams and inviting them to come to the dream extravaganza. We joined with visualizing and projecting the event being prosperous nationwide as suggested by Dr. Barbara. On Friday evening we did a projection at the local branch and teleconferenced with students unable to attend in person.

On Saturday we had our materials gathered and met for another projection prior to going to the Unity Center. Ivy Norris was able to land an interview with one of our local television stations KJRH-News 2, that would do a 10pm segment discussing Dream Awareness Weekend and the unification of the School of Metaphysics across the States presenting “The Edge of Dreaming.” With mention of our Open House Dream Expansion scheduled at the local school on Sunday. Presence for the showing of Dr.Barbara’s “Powers of 10” was mostly students and friends and afterwards we had snacks with discussion in the kitchen. This worked well in the preparation of understanding dreams from a Universal perspective for those whom weren’t enrolled in a class. As others arrived, we settled into presenting “The Edge of Dreaming.” After the open discussion the group of attendees gathered in the entry of the church around the book table and we exercised our skills in dream interpretation. The sincerity of sharing our learning experiences as students of S.O.M. was received openly and whole-heartedly.The Law of Relativity was accepted in many, as it became obvious they understood their presence was for a reason.

The truth of what the school teaches was a vibration flowing throughout that time and space being fully embraced in the moment. Much enthusiasm and gratitude being spoken about the discovery of having a school in their community gave S.O.M. the notoriety we strived to achieve. This gave us the understanding that great things can be given and received by a few in a short amount of time. — Carolyn Freeman

Indianapolis enjoyed an active National Dream Awareness Weekend. Ben Pettingill, dream coordinator, led and mind stormed several brilliant events that included a lecture on Friday evening; a family dream day on Saturday afternoon; the screening of the “Edge of Dreaming” at Butler University on Saturday evening; and a public dream appearance on Sunday afternoon/evening. Ben also led weekly meetings in which dream interpretation was the focus along with the ideal, purpose and activity for the weekend. His thinking was that by focusing on interpretation, students would develop strength and confidence regarding dreams and interpretation that would deepen our understanding and others would certainly benefit from it! Mission accomplished.

I, (Christine Spretnjak, Director of the Indianapolis branch,) personally, became more aware of the universality of dreams. Through the Universal Language of Mind, there exists a universal way to interpret and understand dreams for the purpose of producing peace, contentment and security. This weekend afforded me the opportunity deepen my understanding of how peace, contentment and security is produced and hone my ability to communicate that understanding more effectively.

In rock climbing, there is a technique called lead climbing in which one person, called the “leader”, will climb from the ground up with rope directly attached to their harness while the other, called the “second”, “belays” the leader by feeding out enough rope to allow upward progression without undue slack. It’s a sure-footed and secure way to ascend (that is if the second or belayer is alert and steady). During National Dream Awareness Weekend, this image came as I asked myself again “Why is dream interpretation universally important?” and “Why would everyone want to understand their own dreams?” Asking myself questions like this then recieving the answers help me become more confident and even convicted regarding that to which I devote so much of myself.

Seeing the “leader” as the subconscious mind and the “belayer” as the conscious mind demonstrates the importance of dreams in our lives as they relate to our upward progress. They work in tandem. The conscious mind has a question or thought; the subconscious mind answers it and gives it back; the conscious mind stays steady to receive it and apply it willingly. It’s this step by step progress and process that can be sure-footed and secure when understood.

National Dream Awareness weekend provided an opportunity to interpret children’s dreams as well as answer specific questions like “Why do I sleepwalk?’ In all cases, the dreamers were captive and genuine in their desire to understand. Peace, contenment and security is a universal need and it’s energizing and fulfilling to feed this need.

  13. Hello! Here is some thoughts from a few of our students in Dallas!
    Sondra Patton:
A most enjoyable event with a wide variety of people from novice interest in dream interpretation to the very experienced lucid dreamer.  The documentary was very thought provoking, causing wonder if the dream opened Amy’s conscious mind (as we know it did) to warn her to take heed (as told from my new friend, Catherine) when her ex-husband told her she would die?  Did she bring her illness on herself by disregard of the dream and misinterpretation?  A great topic for discussion amongst our small group.
    Love,Sondra

    Glenda Finnegan:
Before coming to SOM I’d had a few memorable dream experiences and I treasured them.I realized they were special even though I had little knowledge of why. As a first cycle student I’ve logged and interpreted my dreams regularly. I’ve learned so much about myself through them that now I wouldn’t ‘dream’ of stopping my dream log. Now I better understand what they are and why they’re so important. However, while watching the movie I realized even very knowledgeable educated people still don’t know about the power held in their dreams.      The movie, “Edge of Dreaming” is beautiful and haunting in much the same way an individual’s dreams can be. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was awesome how she became aware of her fear through her dream, and how she took action to overcome it. The most enjoyable part for me however, was participating in the group discussion afterward.      What struck me as inspiring and refreshing was how spiritually open everyone was, and how willing they were to share their experience and knowledge with each other. Even though we didn’t use the same words, much of the time we were talking about the same spiritual concepts and sharing the same spiritual outlook! That was a profound insight for me and one that gives me hope for mankind’s spiritual future.       I’m so grateful for finding SOM and being allowed to participate in the classes and events. It has given my life new meaning and hope! Thank you to all of the faculty and students. I receive what you give gratefully!
    Love and light,
    Glenda Finnegan

I had the privilege of watching The Edge of Dreaming for the second time with a deeper understanding of what was occurring thanks to now actively attending the School of Metaphysics at the Columbia, MO branch and all the beautiful people that I’ve met there. This time around before and after the movie I had the privilege of sharing in the promotion of the film, welcoming first time viewers and contemplating the satisfaction and joy of further involvement in aiding others in becoming more aware consciously.I t was the best Saturday night I’ve had in a long time! :)
