Elevating Your Consciousness for the Common Good

First Thoughts...
As we experience the transition of one century to another, indeed one millennium to the next, we are also witness to a global transformation of consciousness.
Religious leaders note this change by how man reacts to what God, or the Universe, creates. From the aurora Borealis to miraculous healing, from common origins to earthquakes and tidal waves, religion begins by admitting and accepting the mysteries of the universe in humbled awe. Religion is the epitome of faith in a Creator greater than ourselves. It is the underpinning of all that will come. The ideas that birthed every religion that has ever existed on this planet reflect the early stages of man's reasoning, for in order for man to experience, he must first believe.
Scientists note this change by how the universe reacts to what man creates. From space probes seeking intelligent life in the universe to genetic manipulations, from the information highway to the garbage of a wasteful people, science begins by identifying and sometimes creating problems that it can then go about solving. Science is the epitome of man as creator. Rearranging his universe in his own image and likeness, humanity in general is experiencing the need to grow up, to replace awkwardness with grace, selfishness with benevolence. Now that man can believe, he must wield his powers of imagination, memory, and will for the common good.
The global transformation of consciousness that is upon us is the maturing of reasoning and the birthing of intuition, individually and collectively.
What until now, for most, has been instinct can evolve with understanding. We can move beyond believing in our instinct be it the impulse that fuels the artist or the drive that makes the statesman or the urge that forms a parent never asking where it comes from or how long it will stay. Such is the limitation of religion as we have known it until now. We can expand our consciousness to go beyond what we physically experience with the bodily senses what we hear with our ears or calculate based upon what we see with our eyes the limitations of science up to now.
Now we can forge a new consciousness. We can move into a new phase of understanding by using what has been gained through religion and through science from the past millennia. We can evolve as a species from Reasoning Man to Intuitive Man, the completion of a cycle of consciousness. Astrologers note this change as the movement from the age of Pisces, the believer, into the age of Aquarius, the knower. I and other metaphysicians describe this period as the evolvement of root races, significant levels of existence that are present within our ever-changing universe. As the most evolved life form on our planet, humanity's consciousness is about to manifest a destiny foretold by prophets, oracles, and statisticians worldwide for millennia Spiritual Man.
Spiritual Renaissance is at once a history of where we have come from, a perspective of where we are, and a prophetic vision of where we are going. The ideas described here are timeless.
The subject matter of each chapter is illustrated in two ways. First they are explored in narratives drawing largely upon addresses given from 1984 through 1999. It is my hope that my love of Universal Truth shines forth in the choice of memorable quotations from some of the most visionary people who have walked on this earth. I also trust my willingness to be forthright and forthcoming concerning how my own life has unfolded will resonate within your own being, and in that way elevate your spirit.
Following each narrative you will find an essay. I like to think these are my tribute to some of the authors I have admired all my life, people like Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Shakespeare and Helen Keller. Like writers such as these, I have attempted to capture the reality of our times for what it reveals about our universal nature. Each essay is a companion piece to what has come before. It begins with a current event of the time, extracting a common lesson that illuminates who we are, and arrives at a new way of seeing who we can become.
It is a wonderful time to be experiencing in the physical, material plane of existence. It is an optimal time to commune with your Creator and realize your relationship to and with all of creation. It is the perfect time to accelerate your own and humanity's evolution. For now is the time you possess.
Now is a time ripe with opportunity, responsibility, and Enlightenment.
A time of Spiritual Renaissance.
May peace be with you all ways.

Spirit: n. [L. spiritus, breath, courage, the soul, life] The intelligent, immaterial, and immortal part of man; the soul as distinguished form the body which it occupies; a person considered with respect to his mental or moral characteristics; a supernatural being.
Renaissance: [Fr. regeneration or new birth - re, again, and naissance, birth] The revival of anything which has long been quenched. v. To cause to be born again; to change, as the heart and affections form enmity or indifference to the love of God.
There have been lights in the darkness to show us the way. Siddhartha Gautama, Aristotle, Jesus of Nazareth, Copernicus, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Cure, Mohandas K. Gandhi, Mother Teresa. In the past such spirits were the exception. In our future, they will become the rule.
In thirteen steps Dr. Barbara Condron leads you through the transformation of consciousness these individuals understood and mastered that allowed them to truly live meditatively and change the world.

Spiritual Initiation: The 13 Virtues
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind."
-- William James, American Psychologist (1842-1910)
Based upon a presentation given during the America's Secret Destiny seminar
in Kansas City in the spring of 1986.
When I was young, I had the good fortune of having dedicated teachers who taught me the things necessary to know in order for me to exist in the physical world. Some of these were reading, and writing, and arithmetic. All skills needed for communication in and understanding of the world.
But I was also trained to be in the world, but not of it...
As I grew older I learned that there were other rituals in our religion. One was being saved by Jesus Christ. Another was being baptized, submerged in water. There was also a ritual called speaking in tongues. As I grew old enough to attend high school, I started meeting Catholics. I began learning about this Catholic religion which was also Christian. At the time I remember being jealous of my Catholic friends because they would tell me about their religion. They told me about ceremonies they had been going through all of their lives in conjunction with their religious beliefs. Christenings. Confirmations. Graduation ceremonies. Girls would tell me that there was a ceremony they went through around the age of 13. They would dress in beautiful white dresses to marry Jesus. My fourteen-year-old mind thought that was a pretty exciting idea. I often wondered why we didnt have something like that in our religion because the idea meant a great deal to me.
Then I heard that Catholic weddings took forever, a long time. I knew Catholic funerals were long because, as did many of my contemporaries, I had watched for days the remembrance ceremonies following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, our first Catholic president. Through a childs eyes, I learned about spiritual initiation. I was exposed to that idea. Spirituality was very much a part of my life. The idea I had about this was that spiritual initiation is a birth of great ideas. Ideas that are spiritual in nature.
As I approached my studies in metaphysics I brought these awarenesses of spiritual initiation. My teacher in the School of Metaphysics enhanced my awareness. She taught me that there would be points of initiation in our growth and learning that would be spiritual in nature. These would be signposts, or points of accomplishment, to gauge our growth. They could also be points where we could accelerate our evolution in terms of the whole self. My ideas of spiritual initiation were embellished and enriched by what I was learning about metaphysics.
