The Kanakam chant...
Kanakam is a Sanskrit word. Sanskrit is a very old language from India. It is said to be the language closest to the vibration of what it describes. That’s what makes it so special.
During Camp Niangua, campers chose a Sanskrit word to meditate upon. Matt’s word was gagaman meaning skies. Elizabeth’s word was kananam which means forest. Tom’s was udyanan meaning garden. Briana’s was suryah for the sun. Jeff’s was nadi meaning river. Bart’s word was kanakam meaning gold or golden.
During one meditation Dr. Barbara, our teacher, heard a melody that became the tune for our special chant made of all our Sanskrit words. How they all fit together is amazing! This is the chant you will learn on side two of this audio tape.
